1. Check your box
Start with the controller model on your order. The current Pro and Light models do not use exactly the same accessories.

Choose the accessories you actually need
Accessories are not required for every installation. Match them to the meter, communication method, controller model, and mounting location.
P1-port / A1-port cable
Connect the controller directly to the user port of a compatible smart or digital meter.

Give a SmartgridOne Light a direct RS485 interface for nearby Modbus RTU devices.

Wall-mount bracket

Complete these checks before mounting or powering the controller.
Supported devices
Confirm that every inverter, meter, battery, charger, or heat pump is supported.
Installer access
Use an installer account that can claim and configure the controller.
Wired internet
Prepare a live Ethernet connection with DHCP and the required outbound ports.
Grid measurement
Provide a supported grid meter or an active P1/A1 user port.
Use the supported device guides to confirm the required interface, wiring, and device settings. To claim and configure the controller, you also need an installer account for SmartgridX.
Note
For accurate grid measurements, connect directly to the P1/A1 user port of the digital meter whenever possible. An energy meter already connected to another device, such as a hybrid inverter, generally cannot also be used by the controller.
Warning
Installations in Belgium: the P1 user port of a Fluvius digital meter is disabled by default. Activate it through Mijn Fluvius. It can take several hours after activation before measurements become available.
3. Install and commission
Work through these stages in order. Do not start configuration until the controller has power, a wired network connection, and internet access.
Install the hardware
Mount the controller and connect every physical interface before applying power.
- Mount the SmartgridOne Controller securely in its intended location.
- Connect the required meter, device, and accessory cables to the correct interfaces.
- Connect the controller to the local network with an Ethernet cable.
- Connect the supplied power adapter and wait for the controller to start.
Claim and configure
Add the controller to your installer account and complete the built-in commissioning wizard.
- Sign in to SmartgridX and select Add controller.
- Enter the serial number and verification code printed on the controller, then claim it.
- Open Settings, select the new controller under Current Site, and go to Controller Configuration.
- Follow the quick-start wizard in the controller interface to add and test the connected devices.
Hand over to the end user
Give the customer access only after commissioning and functional checks are complete.
- Open User Management in SmartgridX.
- Search for the installed controller by serial number.
- Add the end user's email address and confirm that the invitation is sent to the right person.
Troubleshooting
The controller appears offline in "Controller Configuration"
- Test the Ethernet cable with a computer and confirm that it provides internet access.
- Scan the local network for the SmartgridOne Controller with an IP scanner.
- Ask the building owner or network administrator whether fixed IP addresses are required. The controller uses DHCP by default. Connect it to a DHCP network first before changing it to a fixed address.
- Confirm that the required outbound network ports are allowed.
